The dive
Where geology defies gravity and light cuts through the darkness.
Just 20 minutes south of Cancun lies Puerto Morelos, the gateway to the famous 'Ruta de los Cenotes'. Unlike the shallow, decorated caves of Tulum, the cenotes here are deep, cylindrical sinkholes that hide some of the most bizarre underwater formations on Earth. This is not just diving; it is exploration. Here you will find the Cenote Zapote , home to the inexplicable 'Hell's Bells' formations found nowhere else in the world, and Cenote Maravilla , a photographer’s dream where light beams pierce through a mystical hydrogen sulfide cloud.
These cenotes are often deep (30m+). Our guides are trained to manage your profile safely so you can enjoy the formations without stress.
Cenote Maravilla requires perfect timing to see the light beam. We plan our departure from Cancun specifically to catch the sun at its highest point.
Given the depth and the need for buoyancy control around the fragile "Bells", we keep groups small (Max 4 divers) to ensure a respectful and safe encounter.
